What your customer sees
The configurator is the part your customer uses. It opens on your shop — embedded on your website, or in a pop-up on an Odoo product page — and walks them from a blank product to a priced, ready-to-order specification.
The flow
The customer makes their choices (or enters dimensions), watches the price update live as they go, and finishes with the main button — by default "Add to cart", or your custom label. The price they see is always the price the order will use; there are no surprises at checkout.
What's on screen
- Your logo and the product image at the top.
- The choices or dimension inputs. Number inputs show their allowed range and step, and won't accept an out-of-range value — the message appears right under the field.
- A live price (with and without VAT) and a summary of the configuration.
- For parametric products, the bill of materials and the piece weight when set, plus a Datasheet (PDF) button.
- Where you've added one: a 3D view, and an image gallery — hover an option to preview its picture, click the image to open it full-screen.
The datasheet
For parametric products the Datasheet (PDF) button opens a clean one-page spec sheet: the figure with lettered callouts, a legend, and the specification, weight and price. Your customer can print or save it, and it can be attached to the order automatically (see Publishing to your shop).
Languages
The configurator's own labels — buttons, step titles — appear in the customer's language (Dutch, German, French, Spanish or English) based on their browser and your site. The words you typed (product names, option labels, units) appear exactly as you entered them.
Quantity and ordering
The customer sets a quantity, and the total and the bill of materials scale with it. When they finish, the configured line is added to the cart — or sent as a quote request, if you renamed the button.
